Airdrie to keep Indian Charlie’s fee at $70,000

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Uncle Mo’s sire, Indian Charlie, will keep his 2010 stud fee of $70,000 for the 2011 breeding season that opens in February, but that figure will drop to $63,000 for breeders paying by Nov. 1, 2011.

Airdrie Stud in Midway, Ky., also announced Tuesday that it will offer that 10-percent early payment discount on all of its 14 stallions in 2011. Six of those will stand for less than they did in 2010, and the rest will remain at 2010 levels for the upcoming breeding season. The farm also will introduce one new stallion, Majesticperfection, who enters stud at $10,000. The 4-year-old son of fellow Airdrie stallion Harlan’s Holiday was a leading sprinter this season before retiring in September with a condylar fracture in his right foreleg. A Grade 1 winner, he set a 1:07.24 six-furlong mark in the Iowa Sprint Handicap at Prairie Meadows on June 25.

The Airdrie stallions whose base fees will drop are Badge of Silver, from $10,000 to $7,500; Brother Derek, from $8,500 to $7,500; Flashy Bull, $7,500 to $6,000; Include, $10,000 to $7,500; Proud Citizen, $15,000 to $10,000; and Slew City Slew, from $3,500 to $2,500.

The other Airdrie stallions and their 2011 fees are Canadian Frontier, $3,500; Divine Park, $10,000; Harlan’s Holiday, $25,000; Istan, $6,000; Stevie Wonderboy, $10,000; and The Daddy, $2,500.
