Originally entered in last week's postponed Ruthless Stakes at six furlongs, Age of Humor stretched out successfully to post a front-running upset over Fuzzy Britches and Judge Sonya in Saturday's for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct. Anchorage, an expected pace factor, was bet down late to 13-10 favoritism, but stumbled at the start from her inside post, which enabled Age of Humor to seize the lead and the rail under Rosie Napravnik. Once in front, Age of Humor settled nicely on the lead while prompted by Judge Sonya through fractions of 24.04 seconds, 48.56, and 1:14.02, opened a daylight advantage into the stretch, and remained clear under a drive to win by 1 1/4 lengths. "It was hard to tell how the race was going to set up," said Napravnik. "When the 1 horse stumbled, we kind of just steered over and got in front real quick. She was nice and relaxed on the lead. We got an easy pace - it just kind of all went our way." Age of Humor, a Distorted Humor filly who began her career with two sprints in late fall for trainer Steve Klesaris, ran the mile and 70 yards in 1:45.87 over a fast inner track, and paid $13.20 to win as the fourth choice in the field of five. She earned $39,000 for TYB Stable. "We were looking forward to running her around two turns - she struck me as the type who would want to," said Klesaris. "She had shown enough professionalism in her first two starts that I felt she could handle it. "Noting that the filly was cataloged in Keeneland's horses of all ages sale starting Monday, Klesaris said, "as far as what's next, I don't know." Fuzzy Britches, who was entered for the Busanda by Rick Dutrow shortly before winning a starter allowance sprint on Wednesday, trailed early, saved ground most of the way and finished gamely to edge Judge Sonya for second. Anchorage and Summer Humor completed the order of finish.
