OLDSMAR, Fla. – Against the Win, who left the maiden ranks in scintillating fashion going five furlongs on the turf locally, will return to the Tampa Bay Downs infield course in search of two wins in a row when he heads an overflow field of 13 sprinters in Saturday’s allowance headliner at five furlongs on turf. An additional runner, Go Bernie Go, has been entered for the main track only. Daniel Centeno will handle Against the Win for trainer Arnaud Delacour, whose turf-sprint runners have won at a 33 percent clip in 2014-15, as the Distorted Humor gelding makes his third career start. In his debut, Against the Win chased Songsational into the stretch of a seven-furlong sprint on the main track before weakening to fourth, as Songsational reported home clear by 3 1/2 lengths and earned a 90 Beyer Speed Figure. Brought back on the turf at five furlongs, Against the Win raced in midpack early in a sprint that featured an opening quarter-mile in 20.86 seconds and a half in 44.73, then rallied past the leaders to win going away by three lengths as the choice. :: Bet Tampa Bay with DRF Bets. Songsational went on to win his second start at Tampa Bay Downs, earning an 82 Beyer, before tasting defeat for the first time against tough optional-claiming routers at Keeneland in his first start around two turns. Against the Win has come back since his win to post several solid morning drills over the main track in preparation for Saturday’s race. Unlocked, from the Galvan Baltazar barn, won sprinting over the local course at first asking at odds of 24-1 last spring and most recently came off a 5 1/2-month layoff to run a solid second to claiming sprinters on the turf at Gulfstream Park in a five-furlong race run in 55.79 seconds. Blue Sky Diver has been off since last August but had a win and a pair of close seconds sprinting over the turf at Gulfstream against tough claiming and optional-claiming company before going to the sidelines. KEY CONTENDERS Against the Win (Beyers: 76-78) ◗ He ran up against a strong opponent in his debut, then rolled over a solid maiden field to win his last out. His price will be short, and maidens making their first start with winners are usually overbet, but he has strong turf blood, and the barn has a high success rate with turf runners. Unlocked (Last 3 Beyers: 71-48-68) ◗ He came off the shelf with a good second in south Florida last out. ◗ His lone win came over the Tampa Bay green, and the barn quietly does a good job. He is a prime threat. My Cattleya (Last 3 Beyers: 8-73-29) ◗ Throw out her last effort, which came on the main track, when antics behind the gate took their toll during the running. ◗ She makes her second start off a layoff, and the last time My Cattleya tried turf, she won in front-running fashion, earning a competitive Beyer that day.
