ARCADIA, Calif. – Ag Bullet, one of the nation’s top female sprinters, is likely bound for Saratoga in coming weeks for her first start of 2026. Trainer Richard Baltas said over the weekend that Ag Bullet is under consideration for two stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf – the Grade 2 Intercontinental Stakes, a $250,000 race for fillies and mares on June 4, or the Grade 1 Jaipur Stakes, a $500,000 race against males on June 6. Both races are being run during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival. Last year, Ag Bullet won the Jaipur by two lengths, the most prestigious win of a career that includes 8 wins in 17 starts and earnings of $2,977,228. Ag Bullet, who races for Calvin Nguyen and Joey Tran, worked five furlongs on the synthetic training track in 1:00.60 at Santa Anita on Saturday. A 6-year-old mare, Ag Bullet has not raced since a third-place finish in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes for fillies and mares at a mile on turf at Del Mar on Nov. 30. :: Play Santa Anita racing with confidence. In the 2025 BC Turf Sprint at Del Mar, Ag Bullet rallied from fifth of 12 to finish second by 2 1/2 lengths to Shisospicy. Ag Bullet won 2 of 5 starts last year. Aside from the Jaipur, she won the Grade 2 Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Sprint for the second consecutive year. That race, now a Grade 1, will be run on Aug. 29. Baltas has mentioned the Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Sprint as a long-range goal for Ag Bullet. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
