After Lafayette win, Corona Bolt will go next in Pat Day or Woody Stephens

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Corona Bolt, who remained unbeaten around one turn with a win in the $400,000 Lafayette Stakes for 3-year-old sprinters on opening day at Keeneland, will likely make his next start on the undercard of a Triple Crown race.
The potential spots for the Stonestreet Farm colorbearer would be the Grade 2, $500,000 Pat Day Mile on the Kentucky Derby undercard May 6, or the Grade 1, $400,000 Woody Stephens Stakes at seven furlongs on the Belmont Stakes undercard June 10.
“He’s doing good this morning,” Blake Cox, assistant trainer to his father, Brad Cox, said following the race. “We will talk with the Stonestreet people.”
Corona Bolt, now a two-time stakes winner, has won four times, all ranging from six to seven furlongs, from five starts. His only loss came when he caught a sloppy, sealed track in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn Park, finishing sixth.

“He’s very good at this distance,” Stonestreet owner Barbara Banke said after the seven-furlong Lafayette. “At some point, he may go a little bit longer – I’m sure he could get a mile. But we’ll keep him going.”
