After an illness, Full Serrano skips California Crown; BC Dirt Mile still in play
ARCADIA, Calif. - Full Serrano, who was second in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar on Aug. 31, is a candidate for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Del Mar on Nov. 2 after being withdrawn from consideration for Saturday’s Grade 1 California Crown at Santa Anita because of a recent illness.
Trainer John Sadler said Full Serrano could resume workouts as soon as the end of this month. Full Serrano was beaten a half-length by Mixto in the Pacific Classic at 1 1/4 miles, the American stakes debut for the 5-year-old Argentine-bred.

The BC Dirt Mile is preferred over the BC Classic at 1 1/4 miles, Sadler said.
“The Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile will be next,” Sadler said. “He’ll be back on the [workout] tab next week.
“I believe he missed enough time to not be mile and a quarter ready.”
