OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Neecie Marie, runner-up to Didia in the Grade 1 New York Stakes on June 7, will point to the Grade 1 Diana at Saratoga on July 13, trainer Butch Reid said Thursday.
Neecie Marie, who won the Grade 3 Beaugay at Aqueduct prior to the New York, returned to the track on Thursday at Parx in Bensalem Pa.
“She was kicking up her heels, it’s almost like she didn’t run,” Reid said. “We brought her back to Philly but she will be part of our Saratoga string. She’ll be on our first vanload up there, that’s for sure.”
Reid also finished second at Saratoga in the Grade 2 True North with Ninetyprcentmaddie who was six lengths behind Baby Yoda. That was Ninetyprcentmaddie’s third second-place finish in as many starts this year.
“I thought he moved up in each race,” Reid said. “We’re going to give him a chance to catch his break. It’ll probably be another five or six weeks before we run him back.”
At Saratoga, Ninetyprcentmaddie would be eligible for the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap on July 27.
