ETOBICOKE, Ontario – After beating the boys in her debut, Bolt Enoree will take on fillies in Saturday’s $125,000 My Dear, the first 2-year-old stakes of the Woodbine meet.
Trained by Kevin Attard, Bolt Enoree darted out to a clear lead and never looked back to prevail in her 4 1/2-furlong debut on May 21, putting up a 68 Beyer Speed Figure. Runner-up My Boy Prince came right back to graduate by six lengths with a whopping 84 Beyer.
“I thought she was impressive when she won,” Attard said. “I think she stepped up a little [off her works], which was good to see. She’s worked really good in the interim.
“She’s a good-sized filly. She’s grown and matured a lot. I’m happy with the way she’s doing. She should handle the turf later on, too.”
Bolt Enoree, an Ontario-bred daughter of the hot young sire Bolt d’Oro, was a $160,000 Keeneland yearling purchase by Al and Bill Ulwelling. She hails from the family of 1999 Queen’s Plate winner Woodcarver.
Attard also entered Pipit, a front-running second to Crafty Oaks while favored at first asking in a five-furlong maiden special on June 3.

“I thought she’d win first time out,” Attard said. “I was pretty high on her. She showed some ability in the morning. It looked like she was going to win, but maybe she just got run down by a better horse, or maybe she loafed a little on the lead. We put a set of blinkers on her. She’s been working with them, and I think it’s kept her more focused. I’m excited to see her back out.”
Trainer Keith Edwards will saddle Crafty Oaks. The bargain $2,000 yearling purchase was dismissed at 29-1 when she closed stoutly to collar Pipit in deep stretch in a daylight debut triumph June 3.
Trainer Mark Casse entered Dancing Duchess and Stormcast in the 5 1/2-furlong My Dear, which he has won four times.
Dancing Duchess owns the highest Beyer in the lineup, a 73, which she got when graduating second time out in a five-furlong maiden special on June 17.
Stormcast attended the pace on the outside before ending up second to Dancing Duchess that day and got a 71 Beyer for her performance.
Maryland shipper Living Magic is adding blinkers off a troubled third in the 5 1/2-furlong Astoria Stakes on the dirt at Belmont Park. She notched her debut in a maiden special weight dash at Parx Racing for trainer Phil Schoenthal.
Rounding out the field is Party, who placed in both of her outings versus maiden-special company, including a pace-pressing third behind Dancing Duchess and Stormcast.
◗ Post time for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays has been rolled back by five minutes to 1:05 p.m. for the remainder of the Woodbine meet.
