Adore wins Spotted Horse; Seaside Amour takes Acadiana

Adore broke on top and led throughout for a two-length win over Pacific Pink on Friday night in the $75,000 Spotted Horse Stakes at Evangeline Downs. It was another 6 1/4 lengths back to Mr. Al’s Gal in third.
The Spotted Horse, a one-mile race for fillies and mares, shared a card with the $50,000 Acadiana, won by Seaside Amour ($7.20).
Adore ($4.40) set fractions of 24.55 seconds for the opening quarter, 48 seconds for the half-mile, and 1:12.93 for six furlongs while pushed along in the early stages by Mr. Al’s Gal. In the stretch, Adore held off a bid from Pacific Pink while covering the distance on a track rated fast in 1:38.09.
Evangeline leading rider Tim Thornton was aboard Adore for Winchell Thoroughbreds and trainer Steve Asmussen. It was the second straight win for Adore, who was favored Friday following an eight-length allowance win May 5 at Lone Star.
Adore, who was Grade 2-placed earlier in her career, was winning her first stakes in the Spotted Horse. She is a daughter of Big Brown and was bred in Kentucky by Charles Merrick III. Adore has won 7 of 17 starts and earned $311,946.
Seaside Amour battled for a neck win over Yes Gorgeous in the Acadiana, a seven-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies bred in Louisiana. The winner tracked fractions of 23.15 and 46.14 before covering the distance in 1:24.41.
Colby Hernandez was aboard Seaside Amour for breeder and owner Stewart Madison and trainer Al Stall Jr. Seaside Amour is a daughter of Custom for Carlos and the stakes-winning mare Seaside Affair. She has won three of five starts and earned $73,790.
