Adore prepped for Lone Star Park Turf Stakes

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen looks for a move forward from Adore on Monday, when she takes on Kentucky shipper Sensitive, the streaking Texas Belle, and fellow multiple stakes winner Terra’s Angel in the $100,000 Lone Star Park Turf Stakes.
The one-mile race for fillies and mares will go as the eighth on a nine-race program. It serves as the fourth leg of a cross-country pick five hosted by Belmont Park and is part of Lone Star’s late pick four that has a minimum guaranteed pool of $50,000. The sequence runs on races 6-9.
Adore’s eight rivals include Blessed Again, a 12 3/4-length allowance winner at Oaklawn who gets the services of Tyler Baze, and Hay Flo, a half-sister to Grade 3 turf winners Significant Form and Hay Dakota.

◗ Adore enters off a third-place finish in an off-the-turf allowance May 10 at Lone Star. It was her first out since Jan. 27, when she won an optional $75,000 claiming route at Oaklawn. She remained on the work tab during the more than three months between starts, A.
“Amazingly, she was unable to run in anything [else] at Oaklawn, so I do feel that she needed her last race,” Asmussen said. “Hopefully, we can get back in the winner’s circle on Monday.”
◗ Adore won four straight races last year, starting in an off-the-turf allowance in May at Lone Star. She then won the $75,000 Spotted Horse on dirt at Evangeline Downs, a turf allowance at Remington Park, and the $75,000 Ricks Memorial on turf at Remington.
“She’s beautifully consistent, and we’re just looking for more of the same this year,” said Asmussen, who trains Adore for Winchell Thoroughbreds.
◗ Adore will be making her first start over the Lone Star turf course. Richard Eramia has the mount from post 8.
“I feel that Lone Star has a very similar turf course to Remington, which she’s had success on,” said Asmussen.

◗ She exits a runner-up finish in a one-mile turf allowance at Keeneland on April 25. One start prior, she was second in the $74,000 New Orleans Ladies at Fair Grounds. Sensitive was beaten a half-length by Beau Recall, who returned in her next start to capture the Grade 2 Distaff Turf Mile at Churchill Downs.
◗ A half-sister to Grade 1 winner Sam’s Sister, Sensitive races for LNJ Foxwoods and is trained by Brad Cox – the same connections of Covfefe, the winner of the Grade 3 Miss Preakness at Pimlico with a Beyer Speed Figure of 107.
◗ Shaun Bridgmohan has the mount from post 4.

◗ She became a stakes winner last out in the $50,000 San Jacinto on turf March 23 at Sam Houston. It was the third straight win for the mare. Rudy Guerra was aboard and has the mount from post 3 for Richard P. Chandler and trainer Mindy Willis.
“It looks like there’s some legit speed – a couple of horses who have been running short going long,” Willis said. “She can lay close or hang back. She’s pretty versatile.”
