Addae Do Jaguerete should like conditions at Arlington
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – If Sunday’s Arlington races do stay on grass and the turf course has give to it, Addae Do Jaguerete should feel right at home despite the fact she’ll be racing outside Brazil for the first time.
Addae Do Jaguerete is one of several horses Team Valor International purchased in South America last year and turned over to Argentine-born trainer Ignacio Correas IV. The mare is a 6-year-old on Northern Hemisphere time and hasn’t raced since May 2016, but compiled a strong record during the first phase of her career, winning seven of 10 starts. Especially notable vis a vis the Arlington course condition Sunday is that all seven of Addae Do Jaguerete’s turf sprints (she won five of them) came on courses labeled soft or heavy. Leading rider Jose Valdivia Jr. has the call on Addae Do Jaguerete.
Black Angel, a five-time winner over Arlington’s Polytrack, merits a long look if the Sunday feature is rained onto the main track.
◗ Trainer Chris Block told Arlington publicity that Captivating Moon, third on June 23 in the $200,000 Mystic Lake Derby at Canterbury, could wheel right back July 7 in the American Derby, part of Million Preview Day at Arlington. Captivating Moon’s connections hope to get the colt to the Grade 1 Secretariat in August.
