Adare Manor, the dominant older female in California the last 18 months, has been retired, trainer Bob Baffert said in a text message on Wednesday afternoon.
Adare Manor is scheduled to be sold at the Fasig-Tipton November sale in Kentucky on Nov. 4. Adare Manor’s retirement was first reported by the Thoroughbred Daily News.
Owned by Michael Lund Petersen, Adare Manor won 10 of 18 starts and earned $2,096,600 in a career highlighted by eight stakes wins, including three at the Grade 1 level.
Adare Manor was at her best as a 4-year-old in 2023 and as a 5-year-old this year.
In 2023, she won 5 of 7 starts, the most prestigious of which was the Grade 1 Clement Hirsch Stakes for fillies and mares at Del Mar. She won the Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita last October, and was seventh by three lengths behind Idiomatic in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Santa Anita last November.

She won her next three races - the Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park in April, the Grade 2 Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita in May, and the Clement Hirsch on Aug. 3 in her final start.
Adare Manor was the morning-line favorite for the Grade 1 Pacific Classic against males at Del Mar on Aug. 31 but was withdrawn after tying up two days before the race.
Adare Manor had a fees-paid berth in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Del Mar on Nov. 2, but did not have a workout in September.
By Uncle Mo, Adare Manor was purchased for $375,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s 2-year-olds in-training auction in June 2021.
