Actis became a stakes winner Tuesday afternoon, unleashing a powerful run on the final turn and continuing on strongly to the wire for a 4 3/4-length victory in the $100,000 My Trusty Cat at Delta Downs. Not a Lady finished second, while it was another 3 3/4 lengths back in third to Ritzaphena. The My Trusty Cat was for 2-year-old fillies at 7 1/2 furlongs, which is a two-turn configuration at Delta. The race was featured on a card in which there was a reduced takeout of 10 percent on all wagers. The reduced takeout will be offered on five other cards this meet, including the afternoon program on Wednesday. Actis ($8.60) had one horse beat in the early stages as she settled off the pace set by Hurricane Kate, who ran the opening quarter in 23.18 seconds and the half-mile in 47.68. Actis was angled off the rail on the turn, accelerated to the lead into the stretch, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:34.24. Vicente Del-Cid was aboard for trainer Tom Amoss. Actis came into the My Trusty Cat off a maiden special weight win at two turns at Horseshoe Indianapolis. She is a daughter of Hard Spun who races for Joel Politi. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
