Aclare looks ready to break through for a win

DRF Staff|Oct 10, 2001

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Aclare comes off two strong seconds and rates the edge in Friday's featured seventh race at Bay Meadows, a six-furlong allowance race with a purse of $32,000. First post is 7:15 p.m.

Aclare was claimed by trainer Dennis Patterson for $12,500 last December at Hollywood Park. He did not run again until August, finishing second in a six-furlong allowance sprint.

Aclare came back a month later with another strong performance in allowance company. He closed from fifth to finish second to Baby Wave.

He looks ready for a top effort under Frank Alvarado.

Play Well T C and the Jerry Hollendorfer-trained entry of Fantasy Valley and Foul Weather appear likely to offer the main opposition to Aclare in the nine-horse field.

Play Well T C comes off a fourth-place finish in the $60,000 Washington Championship at Emerald Downs. Trained by Dan Markle, Play Well T C had finished second in his prior two starts at Emerald, against $50,000 claimers and in an allowance race.

Fantasy Valley has not run since last November but has been training steadily for his return and Hollendorfer usually has them ready first time back. Fantasy Valley won his maiden in his last start after finishing third and second in his first two starts.

Foul Weather has won over this track and returns after a summer campaign at Arlington Park. He ran five times in Chicago, with a second and two thirds in some tough allowance races there.

Gotta Go to Work, trained by Terry Knight, is another with a chance to win. A 3-year-old, Gotta Go to Work has run only three times, and has a win and a second. Last out, Gotta Go to Work finished fourth after showing good speed to midstretch in allowance company.
