DEL MAR, Calif. - Nearly six weeks after she won a maiden race at Santa Anita by 15 lengths, the 3-year-old filly Accuracy won her debut against winners in a mile allowance race by 7 1/4 lengths in Friday’s eighth race.
Accuracy ($2.20) led throughout under jockey Umberto Rispoli, holding a half-length advantage through the first half of the race. Accuracy led by a length with a quarter-mile remaining and extended her advantage through the stretch.
Accuracy was timed in 1:35.85 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 95. She was heavily favored after the big win at Santa Anita on Oct. 19 in which she earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 107.
After Friday’s race, Rispoli said he has a slight concern regarding Accuracy’s tendency to lug out.
“It’s something fixable,” he said. “Engine-wise, she’s very healthy.”
