SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Jorge Abreu, who won three races last Friday and the $120,000 Galway Stakes on Sunday, hopes to keep the good times rolling when he sends out Runaway Rumour in Saturday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Lake Placid Stakes for 3-year-old fillies. Runaway Rumour, a New York-bred daughter of Flintshire, won her first three starts including the Wild Applause Stakes, before finishing fourth behind Technical Analysis in the Grade 3 Lake George. “I think she was a little too far behind and too wide,” Abreu said. “The stretch isn’t as long as Belmont is and it’s a different category of horses she ran with and had a little too much to do.” Abreu said he would like to see Runaway Rumour “a little more forwardly placed” in the Lake George. “I don’t want to take anything away from her but I don’t want to leave her 10 lengths behind either.” Runaway Rumour is being reunited with Jose Lezcano, who was aboard for the filly’s maiden victory. Six were entered for the Lake George, including Lake Placid winner Technical Analysis, Ego Trip, Illiogami, Lovestruck, and Spanish Loveaffair.
