Abounding Legacy takes Trinniberg Stakes by a neck

Abounding Legacy notched his first stakes victory Saturday when he bounded clear in midstretch before holding off an oncharging Hy Riverside by a neck in the $75,000 Trinniberg Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Ridden by Luca Panici, Abounding Legacy returned $6.40 as the favorite in a field of 10 older horses after finishing the seven-furlong distance in 1:22.03 over a fast track. Wildcat Wish was another 2 1/4 lengths back in third.
Owned by PHS Racing and Run Hard Stables and trained by Ralph Nicks, Abounding Legacy now has won 5 of 15 career starts, with the Trinniberg being his fourth try in a stakes. The 4-year-old Florida-bred Abounding Legacy now has three wins and one second from four starts at seven furlongs.
“He's a one-turn horse,” said Nicks. “We've tried him around two turns a couple times, and it doesn't work. He's showing a little more speed [early] than I want him to, but he's going good.”
Panici, a 42-year-old native of Italy, is third in wins behind Tyler Gaffalione and Emisael Jaramillo at a Gulfstream summer meet that started July 1.
