9.8-second work tops at Calder

Hip No. 62, a Sky Mesa colt out of Secondary School, topped the work tab Friday at the under-tack show for Fasig-Tipton's Calder select 2-year-old sale at Calder in Miami on Tuesday, covering an eighth of a mile in 9.80 seconds.

Cleveland Wheeler, agent, is the consignor of Hip No. 62. The dark bay or brown colt is the second foal for his dam, a stakes-winning Honor Grades mare.

The fastest quarter-mile work for the Feb. 26 auction was the 21-second breeze put in by Hip No. 135, a Pulpit colt out of the Noactor mare Actceptional. Hoby and Layna Kight, agents, consigned the dark bay or brown colt. He is out of a stakes-placed performer and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Mrs. Debbie M.

Fasig-Tipton's Calder select 2-year-old sale is set for Feb. 26 at Calder, with a single session beginning at 11 a.m.
