$600,000 Uncle Mo colt moves to top at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale

An Uncle Mo colt sold for $600,000 to take command of the leaderboard as the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale, the final major-market North American yearling auction of the season, continued a solid run in a turbulent marketplace by posting across-the-board gains in its penultimate session.
Fasig-Tipton reported 237 horses sold in Wednesday's session, the third of four overall, for gross receipts of $9,062,300. The third session of the 2019 sale had 240 horses sold for $8,378,100.
After the Monday and Tuesday sessions posted declines in the average price but kept a steady median compared to the corresponding sessions in 2019, Wednesday's session improved on both figures. The session average was $38,238, a gain of 10 percent from $34,909 last year. The median soared 70 percent, to $17,000 from $10,000.
The sale's buyback rate in what has been an extremely selective marketplace this season continues to improve from the 2019 renewal, an encouraging sign that perhaps also shows the urgency to move stock in the final sale of the season. The session's buyback rate was 24 percent, improved from 26 percent in the 2019 third session.
The session-leading Uncle Mo colt, who also took over the top price for the sale overall, was purchased by bloodstock agent Donato Lanni. He was consigned by Lane's End, as agent.
The colt is out of the winning A.P. Indy mare A. P. Dream, dam of four winners from as many starters, led by Group 2-placed stakes winner Wind Fire.
A. P. Dream is out of the multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire Dream Supreme – who in turn is out of Grade 1 winner Spinning Round – making her a full sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Majestic Warrior and stakes winner Crystal Current. They also are half-siblings to Grade 3-placed stakes winner Evolutionist, Grade 3-placed Tour de Force, and stakes-placed Gold Shield.
