$3.6M filly retired unraced

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Born Perfect, the $3.6 million Mr. Prospector filly who topped last year's Keeneland July selected yearling sale, has been injured in training and will retire unraced.

Satish and Anne Sanan's Padua Stables, which owns Born Perfect, announced the 2-year-old filly's retirement Tuesday, saying that she would join the Padua broodmare band in Ocala, Fla.

The Sanans' daughter Nadia, the spokeswoman for Padua, declined to provide specific details of the filly's injury or whether it would require surgery, but said, "She will be coming home, and she'll be ready to breed next season."

Born Perfect had been in training at Belmont Park with D. Wayne Lukas, Padua's regular trainer and the agent who bid for the Sanans when they acquired the filly last year at Keeneland.
