$320,000 Uncle Mo filly tops first session of Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall yearling sale
A Maryland-bred Uncle Mo filly sold for $320,000 to lead the session as the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall yearling sale opened Monday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.
Fasig-Tipton reported that 145 yearlings sold Monday for gross receipts of $3,947,200. In last year's corresponding opening session, 149 yearlings brought $4,577,300.
Monday's average price was $27,222, down 11 percent from $30,720 in the comparable 2021 session. The median dropped 30 percent, to $14,000 from $20,000.
The session's buyback rate was 19 percent, compared to 16 percent.
The session-topping Uncle Mo filly was purchased by Legion Bloodstock from the consignment of Scott Mallory, as agent for Determined Stud.
The filly is out of the stakes-winning Singspiel mare Andina, who also was multiple graded stakes-placed. She is the dam of five winners from as many starters, including graded stakes winners Andina Del Sur and Australia Mia.
The Midlantic sale concludes with a Tuesday session in which the majority of the catalog will be offered. Last year's Midlantic sale, topped by a $235,000 Mendelssohn colt, finished with record average ($29,578) and median ($20,000) figures.
