22 offered at CTHS horses of racing age sale at Hastings
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The annual CTHS horses of racing age sale will be held in the paddock at Hastings on Saturday. Of the 22 horses up for auction, 21 are 2-year-olds. Racing River, an unraced 3-year-old gelding by Lent, is the other horse in the sale. The sale begins at noon Pacific.
The Hole in the Wall Gang has 12 juveniles in the sale. They were bought with funds provided by the British Columbia Horse Racing Management Committee to enhance the horse population at Hastings. There are no reserves on the Hole in the Wall Gang consignment. During the 2020 Hastings meet, which runs from April 26 to Oct. 18, those horses can run only at Hastings.

Richard Kent, of Kaizen Sales, acted on behalf of the Hole in the Wall Gang in purchasing the horses at the 2019 October Fasig-Tipton yearling sale in Lexington, Ky.
Mark Cloutier has been overseeing their training since they arrived in British Columbia last fall. Cloutier is the trainer of Explode, who won the Grade 3 Canadian Derby for Canmor Farms last year.
The most successful graduate of previous sales is the Grade 3 winner Victress. A Kentucky-bred daughter of Include, Victress was a $3,500 purchase for Rob and Vicky Gilker out of the 2016 sale. She retired with earnings of $209,603. After her win in the 2018 Grade 3 Ballerina, Victress was bought back by her breeder, Judy Hicks, for $200,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky winter mixed sale.
