22 horses entered for Kentucky Derby; Tale of Verve a surprise entrant

Barbara D. Livingston Firing Line, one of 22 horses entered in the Kentucky Derby, trains Wednesday morning at Churchill Downs.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Twenty-two horses were entered Wednesday morning for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, with just one surprise, the entry of recent maiden winner Tale of Verve.
Otherwise, everything went as planned Wednesday morning, with the 21 other horses entered as expected.
A maximum of 20 horses can run in the Derby, so, when posts are drawn Wednesday night, Frammento and Tale of Verve will be placed on the also-eligible list. They earned the fewest points among the entrants and can draw into the race, in that order, if there are scratches from the main body of the race before Friday morning.
