2021 Breeders' Cup: War Like Goddess among quintet of Mott workers

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Bill Mott’s five prospective Breeders’ Cup horses put in workouts at Saratoga on Friday in advance of their ship early next week to Southern California. All five are pointing to races on Nov. 6 at Del Mar.
War Like Goddess, the probable favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, was credited with a five-furlong move in 1:01.75 over an Oklahoma turf course labeled yielding. Casa Creed, who has been pre-entered for the Mile and Turf Sprint, started out a few lengths ahead of War Like Goddess, according to Mott, and the pair finished on even terms at the wire. Casa Creed was given a time of 1:02.55.
“She worked very well,” Mott said of War Like Goddess. “She produced a better time but they finished up together. She was doing well three weeks ago and she’s still doing well today.”
Mott said he would prefer to run Casa Creed in the Mile provided he gets into the race. The horse has a berth in the Turf Sprint by virtue of his victory in the Grade 1 Jaipur in June.
Art Collector, the Grade 1 Woodward winner who is pointing to the $6 million Classic, worked five furlongs in 1:01.88 over the Oklahoma dirt track, following company that stopped at the eighth pole, Mott said.
Horologist, the Grade 2 Beldame runner-up who is pointing to the Distaff, worked a half-mile in a quick 47.85 seconds.
“She did it easy,” Mott said. “She’s doing really well right now.”
Channel Maker, pointing to the Turf, worked a half-mile in 48.75 seconds over the Oklahoma dirt course.
Mott’s quintet of Breeders’ Cup runners is scheduled to ship to California via a Federal Express flight out of Newark, N.J. on Tuesday.
◗ Bella Sofia, the probable second choice behind Gamine in the Filly and Mare Sprint, worked six furlongs in 1:14.23 over Belmont’s main track. She went in company with Trinni Luck.
