Kenny and Lisa Troutt’s WinStar Farm, which won Eclipse Awards for outstanding owner in 2010 and standout breeder in 2016, led all North American breeders by earnings in 2018. WinStar is a finalist for the Eclipse Award as outstanding breeder for 2018. The farm was established in 2000 by Kenny Troutt and Bill Casner, who purchased the former Prestonwood Farm to house their operation. Casner left the partnership in 2010. Over its fairly brief history compared to other prominent Kentucky operations, WinStar – whose, president, CEO, and racing manager is former trainer Elliott Walden – has grown by leaps and bounds and sprawls across 2,400 acres in Versailles, Ky. As it built up one of the largest stud rosters in the heart of horse country, WinStar constructed a state-of-the-art stallion facility in 2013 that will house 22 stallions for the 2019 season. WinStar also is a finalist for the 2018 outstanding owner title in partnership with China Horse Club, Starlight Racing, and Head of Plains Partners. That group campaigned Triple Crown winner and Horse of the Year finalist Justify. :: 2018 Eclipse Finalists: Profiles and photos for all categories
