2018 Belmont Stakes payouts: Justify continues strong run for favorites
Justify continued a strong record for favorites in the Belmont Stakes with his Triple Crown-clinching victory Saturday evening.
Justify returned $3.60 on a $2 win ticket, and $3.50 and $2.80, respectively, to place and show. He is the 63rd winning favorite in the 150-year victory of the Belmont Stakes, the oldest and longest American classic.
Closing runner-up Gronkowski paid $13.80 and $7, while Hofburg returned $3.70 to show. The $1 exacta returned $44.50, while a 50-cent trifecta returned $114.87.
Following Justify, Gronkowski, and Hofburg, in order of finish, came Vino Rosso, Tenfold, Bravazo, Free Drop Billy, Restoring Hope, Blended Citizen, and Noble Indy. The last two essentially cantered across the line, but walked back to be unsaddled and walked back to the barns under their own power.
On a day that did feature some upsets, including Spring Quality ($38) in the Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes immediately preceding the Belmont, the pick six was hit, returning $81,026 on a $2 ticket. The daily double linking the Manhattan and Belmont returned $44.50.
Belmont offered a double linking Friday's Grade 2 Belmont Gold Cup Invitational, also won by the favorite, Call To Mind, and the Belmont Stakes. The wager returned $8.20 for $1.
