ELMONT, N.Y. – In addition to the usual fare of ample wagering opportunities, there is a bevy of two-day wagers being offered this week. There will be a two-day pick six that consists of Friday’s Grade 2 True North, Grade 2 Belmont Gold Cup, and Grade 2 New York, and a trio of Grade 1 stakes Saturday, the Jaipur, Metropolitan Handicap, and Belmont Stakes. That pick six will have a 20-cent base wager with a 15 percent takeout. The New York double consists of Friday’s New York Stakes and Saturday’s Metropolitan Handicap. There is the Belmont Gold Cup-Belmont Stakes double, the Bed o’ Roses-Acorn double, and the True North-Woody Stephens double. On Saturday, there will be a trio of pick five wagers, including one that begins on race 7, the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps, and ends with the Belmont. There is a mandatory payout of that pool. The early pick five begins on race 1, and the late pick five begins on race 9. ◗ The New York Racing Association is expected to permit approximately 11,000 fans at Saturday’s Belmont Stakes. That number represents approximately one-third of what is considered seated capacity at Belmont Park. All tickets must be purchased in advance, and there is no general admission sold.
