The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall yearling sale finished its two-day run on Tuesday evening with a gain in average price and a drop in gross, led by a $190,000 Honor Code colt.
A total of 300 yearlings were sold between Monday and Tuesday's sessions at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium for gross revenues of $7,275,900. Last year, 338 were sold for a gross of $7,318,700.
The average price finished at $24,253, a 12 percent increase from $21,653 in 2018. The median declined 7 percent, to $14,000 to $15,000.
The buyback rate was 21 percent, compared to 22 percent last year.
The sale-topping Honor Code colt was purchased by Tim Hills, as agent for Seagull Capital, from the consignment of Bill Reightler, as agent.
The colt is out of the Citidancer mare Mrs. Vanderbilt, who is the dam of five winners from six starters, led by Grade 2 winner Dancing Afleet and stakes winner Tujoes.
