SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - There were 18 winning tickets sold on Friday's pick six at Saratoga, with each winning ticket returning $88,747. The pick-six pool topped $2 million after a three-day carryover of $656,422 prompted an additional $1,823,550 to be bet on Friday's sequence. After takeout, the pool was just over $2 million. While somewhat logical, there were only two winning favorites in the sequence. The pick six began with first-time starter and second betting choice Lovely Lil ($12.20), continued with third choice Classic Campaign ($13.60), favorite Gitchee Goomie ($5.40), fourth choice Leamington ($15.40), favored Thoroughly Holy ($4.90), and third choice Tobruk ($15.20). Tobruk's victory snapped a two-year, 16-race losing streak. He lost his first 12 starts before winning a maiden race here on Sept. 1, 2007. He ran down Here Comes Art, a 7-year-old who hadn't run since Oct. 3, 2007. There were 709 consolation tickets (5 of 6), each returning $475.
