A $145,000 colt by Tapiture topped the session as the Keeneland September yearling sale continued to post double-digit gains in its penultimate session. Keeneland reported 303 horses sold through the ring on Thursday, the second of three Book 5 sessions and the 10th of 11 sessions overall, for gross receipts of $9,194,000, nearly doubling the revenues from last year's corresponding session. In last year's 10th session – the second of two Book 5 sessions that preceded a two-session Book 6 – 238 horses sold for $4,664,900, before any private sales were factored in. Thursday's average price was $30,343, up 55 percent from $19,600 at the close of business for the corresponding session last year. The median soared 84 percent, to $23,000 from $12,500. The buyback rate also improved, finishing at 12 percent, compared to 21 percent. John Greathouse, acting as agent for Glencrest Farm, purchased the session-topping Tapiture colt from the consignment of Paramount Sales, as agent. The colt is out of the winning Dayjur mare Informative Style, an extremely productive broodmare who is represented by 10 winners from 12 starters, including stakes winners Watch This Cat and Stylish Citizen and stakes-placed Point Blake. Informative Style's dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners A Phenomenon and Seattle Meteor. This family has, in recent years, produced Australian Group 1 winner Con Te Partiro.
