$133,000 carryover at Del Mar

Steve Andersen|Aug 01, 2007

DEL MAR, Calif.-The absence of a winning favorite in all six legs of Wednesdays pick six has led to a carryover of $133,600 for Thursdays eight-race program at Del Mar.

Thursdays pick six covers the third through eighth races, and most of the races have full fields.

Jockey Richard Migliore has leading contenders in four of the six races.

Three of the races are for maidens including the third race for 2-year-old maiden claiming fillies. The race is run over 5 1/2 furlongs and has drawn a field of eight. Cupids Kitty, Migliores mount, is the morning-line favorite, a slight choice over Princess Traci, who has drawn the outside.

The fourth race was reduced to 10 starters following the withdrawal of Captain Casper. The maiden race over 1 1/16 miles on turf for statebreds is led by Jupiters Stone, who will be ridden by Migliore.

In the fifth race, Migliore rides the second choice on the morning-line Mysweetdistraction. The race is run over 6 1/2 furlongs for $10,500 to $12,500 claiming 3-year-old fillies. Go Malabar Gold, the mount of leading rider Michael Baze, is the morning-line favorite. The field was reduced to 10 with the withdrawal of Miss Melissa at Wednesdays scratch time.

The sixth and seventh races have fields of seven.

The sixth race is a sprint over six furlongs for $25,000 claimers. Case Study, who drew the outside, will be well-supported, along with Ironstar and Pauls Hope.

The seventh race is an optional claimer over five furlongs on turf for fillies and mares. With the rails set seven feet from their permanent position, there were only eight entrants. The field was reduced to seven when Shes Got Skills was scratched from the outside.

Lady Matilda, who starts from outside, is the morning-line favorite. Migliore rides Queen of Green, who breaks from the rail.

The final race is a maiden claimer for fillies and mares that has a field of 12. Just Chrome and Nushka Babee are scratched. Turkus Quercus, who will inherit the rail position from Just Chrome, is the morning-line favorite.
