ELMONT, N.Y. - The pick six went unhit for a second straight card Monday at Belmont Park, resulting in a carryover of $128,318 entering Thursday's card. Following a six-day week, there is no racing at Belmont Tuesday or Wednesday. There was a carryover of $33,382 entering Monday's program and an additional $171,080 was wagered into the pool. The sequence began with first-time starters Ruthenia ($42.40) and Decesion Point ($13.80) winning followed by Purrfect Bluff (18.60). After favorites Aruna ($4.70) and Macho Joe ($3.60) prevailed, there were live tickets to four horses entering the nightcap. None, however, was live to Mystic City ($15.60), who drew clear under Cornelio Velasquez while a belated rally from favorite - and covered pick-six horse - Lakeside Chapel fell well short. The consolation payout (5 of 6) was $1,217. Thursday's pick six will begin with race 4 (2:35 p.m. eastern), a 5 ½-furlong maiden event for 2-year-old fillies featuring Palooza, who was disqualified out of a maiden win at Saratoga on Sept. 3.
