$115,000 carryover, low takeout make Friday's pick five a worthwhile play
Handicappers looking for a score can focus on Friday’s Pimlico card. The nine-race program features both a $708,858 carryover into the single-winner Jackpot Pick 6 and a $115,038 carryover into the late pick five.
The pick five has a low, 12 percent takeout. DRF’s Ticketmaker application allows bettors to place more emphasis on their stronger opinions while potentially saving money on the cost of the overall ticket.

Here’s a closer look at the pick five:
Race 5
The sequence begins with a five-furlong turf sprint for $12,500-$16,000 filly and mare claimers who have not won two races, and it looks like a spread race.
Cindy’s Prayer (3) makes her first start on the circuit and has early zip, a valuable asset over a course that has been favoring speed types. She is an “A” play on Ticketmaker along with Lookin for Candy (9), a filly in decent dirt form whose two turf races resulted in fourth- and 10th-place finishes. Merry Maid (7), Not My Money (8) , and Make It a Double (10) should be considered backups at the very least. Players with deep pockets might also utilize Suzzette Star (6) and Great Cause (5) as lower-level “C” backups.
Race 6
Although there are some interesting first-time starters in the waiver $40,000 maiden-claiming race for 3-year-old fillies going six furlongs, it appears it goes through Wicked Hot (5), an “A” on Ticketmaker after being beaten a head in a second-place debut against special-weight maidens for Graham Motion. There is a temptation to single Wicked Hot, but No Chance Given (1) also deserves respect in her first start for Claudio Gonzalez, who claimed her for $20,000 out of a troubled fourth-place finish in her last start.
Race 7
This field of bottom-level filly and mare beaten claimers features the late-running Petion Lass (2) and the speedy Blue Sky Venezuela (5). Petion Lass returns in this six-furlong race from a five-month layoff but was in good form before the break. Blue Sky Venezuela adds blinkers off the claim and should be in the thick of things turning for home. Both look like “A” plays. Instinctive (1) and Petes Pride (3) have backup potential.

Race 8
Cry No More (4) and Heir Port (2) are the logical contenders in the Friday feature, a six-furlong allowance race for 3-year-olds. Cry No More has excellent early speed. Heir Port beat Cry No More in his seasonal debut when rallying from off a quick pace. They have a Beyer edge over the rest of this field. Players looking for a better price can use Exculpatory (3) as a backup. A closer, he was compromised by a lack of pace last time out.
Race 9
This one-mile turf route for $12,500 claimers is competitive. Gearhead (12) ships in from New York and drops in class; My Man Pots N Pans (10) faced a steep class-dropper when a solid third at this level last out in his turf debut; Black Prong (7) has tactical speed shipping up from Tampa; Ballivor (2) hasn’t raced on turf in a long time, but boasts a strong kick. Those four horses look like “A” plays. Kikinboy (11), Dothat Dance (6), and No Knock Raid (4) are among the horses that could be considered backups. The horses mired on the also-eligible list are all usable if they get to play.
