Geris Hand paid an Oaklawn Park meet-high $228 to win on Thursday when she won the ninth and final race on the card. She was dismissed at 113-1 in the maiden claiming race for fillies and mares bred in Arkansas.
Geris Hand rallied for a 1 1/4-length win, covering six furlongs in 1:13.74. She was making her second start since September. Geris Hand was sixth, beaten 13 lengths, in her first start of the year Jan. 27 at Oaklawn. The start came in a $10,000 maiden claiming race. She ran for a $12,500 tag Thursday.
Eduardo Gallardo was aboard Geris Hand in what was the rider’s third mount at the meet. Gallardo previously had been riding at Hawthorne.
