How to bet Charles Towns's Pick 4 - April 20, 2013

Here's my race-by-race rundown of Friday's pick four at Keeneland on April 19, 2013. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. I'm betting in increments of $0.50 with a budget of $100.00.

Race 9 (Original Gold Stakes)

DOWN TOWN ALLEN (#2) thinks she owns this place. She’s won 14 times here and she ended her 2012 in sterling fashion with 4 straight wins, all here. She hasn’t run in over 5 months but has worked well and is proven fresh. RUNAWAY BRAE (#4) continues her strong form having finished 1st or 2nd in 5 straight and 8 of her last 9, including  a good 2nd to ‘ALLEN here in the fall when she was getting to that foe late.

Race 10 (Charles Town Dash Handicap)

IMMORTAL EYES (#4) won this smartly last year. He’s been freshened since another SW here Feb. 12 and is an amazing 9-for-10 here, but doesn’t have some big margin for error. FEARSOME (#5) looked strong beating some of these going shorter here March 13. He easily won his only 2 local starts. TOMORROW’S TALE (#3) may be peaking as he comes off 2 straight wins and is 3 for 4 here. JASIZZLE (#2) invades with strong works and good form. REGAL SOLO (#7) ran 5th in this last year off a layoff. He comes here off another vacation, albeit a shorter one, and his form prior to the vacation was sharp.

Race 11 (Sugar Maple Stakes)

BOOK REVIEW (#4) would certainly appear to hold the class edge as she’s a Grade 1 winner. Not only does she come here sharp from SA but she looked super winning her only start here last summer at this same trip. HOLIDAY SOIREE (#1) wasn’t far at all behind BOOK REVIEW when 2nd to her at this same trip here last summer so if she comes back with improvement she can certainly threaten. DANGEROUS VIXEN (#3) loves this place and has been freshened after a strong fall/winter which saw her win 3 of her last 5.

Race 12 (Charles Town Classic Stakes)

GAME ON DUDE (#3) was devastating winning the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. When on his game he’s as good as it gets in the handicap division and so long as he handled shipping here he figures tough. His speed gives him a tactical edge on main foe RON THE GREEK (#5). That rival is top-class when on his game as well. He was no match for ‘DUDE at SA, where ‘DUDE dominates, but a change of venue could turn things around. CAIXA ELETRONICA (#6) won this last year in one of the best races of his life. He apparently likes it here.

My wagers

With TicketMaker I'm able to put greater emphasis on my "A" selections while still having coverage with my "B" and "C" picks just in case. This allows me to maximize my budget for this pick four, and I come out $5.00 under budget.
