Gulfstream caters to Spanish-speaking crowd

MIAMI - A live-stream Spanish broadcast of racing from both Gulfstsream Park and Gulfstream Park West began on opening day here Wednesday. The high-definition broadcast is independent of the track’s English broadcast, with separate producers, directors, cameras, on-air talent and race caller.

The broadcast is available online at gulfstreampark.com and at Gulfstream’s facilities on channel 17-1.

Juan Carlos Palma and Alfredo Alfonzo will be featured on the broadcasts, with Pedro Casella the Spanish race caller.

Juan Carlos Palma, also known as “El Caribe Palma,” is recognized as one of the most respected handicappers in Latin America and has spent more than 30 years covering Thoroughbred racing in his native Venezuela.

Alfonzo founded VideoHipico, a website and social media agency dedicated to promoting horse racing, and has handicapped Gulfstream Park races for the Spanish audience for more than a year at gulfstreampark.com.

Casella, a native of Venezuela, is the founder and CEO of Redes de Campeones, a public-relations company specializing in horse racing.
