As of 5 p.m. Eastern, and with nearly $30,000 in the win pool, Uncle Mo was the 3-1 favorite, followed closely by The Factor at 7-2. Then came To Honor and Serve (5-1), Dialed In (11-1), Soldat (12-1), Premier Pegasus (14-1), and the mutuel field, the 24th or “all others” option, at 16-1. Another $10,597 had been bet into exactas.

Comma to the Top was scratched before wagering opened, leaving 22 separately listed wagering interests.

Only one major prep, the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park, will be run this weekend before the Pool 3 odds are locked in Sunday at 6 p.m. – and just barely. Post time for the Florida Derby is scheduled for 5:42 Sunday.

The Florida Derby field includes four Pool 3 horses: To Honor and Serve, Dialed In, Soldat, and Stay Thirsty. Otherwise, many of the other separately listed horses will still have one more race before the 137th Derby is run May 7 at Churchill Downs, including Uncle Mo in the April 9 Wood Memorial and The Factor in the April 16 Arkansas Derby.

The field closed as the 2-1 favorite in Pool 1, which ran Feb. 18-20. In Pool 2, which ran March 11-13, Uncle Mo was the 3-1 choice.

Combined handle in the first two pools was $969,191. Last year, the Pool 3 and aggregate handles were $310,154 and $1,132,055, respectively.
