Breeders' Cup signs up 17 tracks for mystery voucher promotion

Seventeen racetracks have agreed to participate in a mystery mutuel voucher promotion offered by Breeders’ Cup that could award someone a $500,000 payout, according to the organization.

The racetracks are Aqueduct, Belmont, Canterbury Park, Charles Town Races, Emerald Downs, Gulfstream Park, Hollywood Park, Keeneland, Laurel, the Meadowlands, Monmouth, Penn National, Pimlico, Santa Anita, Saratoga Raceway harness track, Suffolk Downs, and Sunland Park, Breeders’ Cup said.

The promotion, which is designed to drive attendance to simulcasting sites on Nov. 5, requires people to sign up for a voucher on line. The e-mail version of the voucher can be redeemed at any of the sites at the participating racetracks. Breeders’ Cup said the vouchers will be worth “at least $2, with some worth as much as $5 to $500.” One voucher will be worth $500,000, payable in an annuity.

Breeders’ Cup began soliciting racetracks to participate in the promotion over the summer. Participation required racetracks to provide the e-mail addresses in their databases to a third-party that is administering the promotion. Aside from the $500,000 voucher, participating racetracks were allowed to determine how much the vouchers would be worth.
