Gunning For (outside) staves off fast-closing Rousing Victory to win the Lawrence Realization by a half-length.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Denise Walsh owns Artie Schiller, one of the best grass horses in the country and a contender for the Breeders' Cup Mile. Gunning For, another Walsh runner, although not in the same league as Artie Schiller, won Saturday's $110,100 at Belmont Park.

Gunning For, ridden by Joe Bravo, was a half-length winner over favored Rousing Victory in the 1 1/2-mile Lawrence Realization over the yielding turf. Second Performance finished third, 3 1/2 lengths behind Rousing Victory in the Grade 3 for 3-year-olds.

Cool Conductor wins the the Grade 3, $250,000 Hawthorne Derby by a neck on Saturday.

STICKNEY, Ill. - To win the , Jose Santos needed to throw down the anchor on Cool Conductor. Fifty yards after the start, Santos had Cool Conductor just where he wanted him, hard held and in behind other horses. Cool Conductor turned off, relaxing in a race for the first time since July, and with help from a perfect trip ran down a game colt in Bankruptcy Court in the final jumps to win the Grade 3, $250,000 derby a neck.

B.A. Way drops in to win Rodney 'Cap

A drop in class worked perfectly for B.A. Way, who won the $200,000 on Saturday at even-money by a widening 2 1/4 lengths.

Dropping from Grade 1's and 2's in New York in his previous three starts, B.A. Way and rider Abel Castellano, Jr had a few anxious moments, boxed inside and fourth in the field of five turning for home in the 1 1/8-mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up.

But B.A. Way found a seam in upper stretch, cut to the middle of the course, and quickly accelerated to win going away.

Dr. Kashnikow ends 23-month O-fer

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Dr. Kashnikow rallied from last to win the Grade 3, $200,000 Friday night at The Meadowlands Racetrack and end a long victory drought.

A 7-year-old gray gelding trained by John R. Fisher, Dr. Kashnikow scored his first victory since the Grade 3 River City Handicap at Churchill Downs in November 2002.

"It's been two years since he won a race, but he's always been there," said Fisher. "He ran a great race."

Jockey Richard Migliore let Dr. Kashnikow, who carried 116 pounds, settle early before asking for run entering the final turn.

Pimlico: Move to Strike wins off layoff

Move to Strike (inside) wins the $50,000 Sonny Hine at Pimlico on Saturday.

Move to Strike entered the $50,000 at Pimlico off a three-month layoff, a break he apparently needed.

Beaten a combined 58 1/2 lengths in his previous three starts in roughly the same company, Move to Strike returned a revived horse. He sprinted to as much as a six-length lead early in the six-furlong race, then battled late to outfinish the fast-closing Wimplestiltskin by a nose.

On Thin Ice finished another 2 1/4 lengths back in third in the field of seven 3-year-olds. Senor Ladd, the 2.30-1 favorite, saved ground and never fired, finishing in a dead heat for sixth.

Rollins out for weeks after spill

Jockey Chance Rollins will be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks after falling from his mount, Boozen Blues, in Friday's fourth race at Bay Meadows.

Rollins, tied for fourth in the Bay Meadows jockey standings, suffered a displaced fracture of his left wrist, abdominal bruising, and a neck strain when his mount propped badly after bearing out and bumping the eventual winner, Yellow Out.

At Lone Star Park, Jockey Eddie Martin Jr. escaped serious injury Friday when he was thrown from his mount, Lupe's Love, after she clipped heels with another rival midway on the final turn.

Bravo wouldn't trade Lady's Room

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Joe Bravo loves where he's sitting in the Tuesday afternoon feature at The Meadowlands Racetrack.

Bravo, eight times the leading rider at the Big M, has the mount on Lady's Room in the $51,000 allowance race for New Jersey-bred fillies and mares going six furlongs.

"If I had any horse to pick in the race, I would definitely stay on the horse that I'm on," said Bravo.

Vivian's filly works for repeat bid

MIAMI - With the finals of the Florida Stallion Stakes just one week away, Saturday morning proved to be a busy one for potential candidates for both the $400,000 My Dear Girl and In Reality Stakes.

The most notable of the Stallion Stakes workers was Aclassysassylassy, who will bid to become only the second filly to sweep the series when she starts in the 1 1/16-mile My Dear Girl. Idle since easily capturing the seven- furlong Susan's Girl Stakes on Sept. 4, Aclassysassylassy worked seven furlongs in 1:32.80 seconds for trainer Dave Vivian.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Ticker Tape continued her dominance of major turf stakes for 3-year-old fillies, winning the Grade 1 by a half-length over Barancella at Keeneland Saturday.

As in her four prior stakes victories in 2004, Ticker Tape used her powerful closing kick to prevail. Jockey Kent Desormeaux allowed her to settle in sixth place early, as 13-1 longshot River Belle established a reasonable pace of 49.64 and 1:14.43 in the 1 1/8-mile turf race over a course rated soft.
