G P Fleet takes River City Handicap

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - G P Fleet, a versatile 4-year-old gelding who has run equally well on the Churchill Downs dirt and turf courses, got a good trip in running another big race Sunday when upsetting the Grade 3, $174,300 at Churchill.

With Jose Martinez Jr. substituting for Eddie Martin Jr., who took another mount in the race, G P Fleet rallied from fifth in the field of 12 older horses to prevail by a half-length over Cloudy's Knight. The winner returned $26.60 after finishing 1 1/8 miles in 1:51.26 over a yielding turf.

Wally's Choice in a 33-1 shocker in Oklahoma Derby

Wally's Choice ($69.80) drives clear of Golden Glen to take a one-length decision in Sunday's Grade 3, $167,250 Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park.

Wally's Choice took advantage of a hot pace and rallied from last to win the Grade 3, $167,250 at 33-1 at Remington Park on Sunday. Golden Glen finished a length back in second, while it was another length and a half back to third-place finisher and favorite Cryptograph.

The Oklahoma Derby was one of four stakes on the card, and together the races made for the richest program of the meet at Remington.

No Bull Baby takes Moccasin Stakes

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - No Bull Baby overcame trouble on the turn to win her first stakes in Sunday's $100,000 Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, No Bull Baby was forced to wait behind the frontrunners with three furlongs remaining, moved to the outside of the pacesetters entering the stretch and rallied impressively to win by a half-length over Short Route.

Short Route rallied from sixth to finish second. She's a Jewel, who was part of the early pace of 22.14 and 44.92 seconds, finished third in the field of seven 2-year-old fillies.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Shout to the North ($41.70) collared Canadian Gem in deep stretch to capture Sunday's $136,875 Glorious Song Stakes, a seven-furlong event for 2-year-old fillies at Woodbine.

Emile Ramsammy rode Shout to the North, who rallied wide from nearly four lengths back to score by a neck, in a final time of 1:25.65 seconds. Canadian Gem was three lengths clear of the third-place finisher, Roving Angel, while favored Quite a Ruckus trailed the seven-horse field, after dueling through quick fractions.

Goosey Moose best in Star of Texas

HOUSTON - Goosey Moose asserted himself as one of the best older Texas-breds in training on Saturday night when he powered to a 2 3/4-length win over Catalissa in the $100,000 at Sam Houston Race Park.

The race drew four past winners, and was the richest of eight Texas-bred stakes on the card called Texas Champions Day. A ninth stakes, the $150,000 Sam Houston Texan Juvenile won by Boggy Creek, was for open company, and together the races were worth $625,000.

Boggy Creek powers to score in Sam Houston Texan Juvenile

HOUSTON - Boggy Creek unleashed an explosive move around the final turn in the $150,000 on Saturday night, winning the race by three lengths before a crowd of 8,284 at Sam Houston Race Park.

The Juvenile was his first start in blinkers, and his route race on dirt.

Major League finished second, while it was another neck back in third to 2-5 favorite Leaving On My Mind.

Asmussen breaks Van Berg's record

HOUSTON - Steve Asmussen broke Jack Van Berg's 28-year-old record for North American trainer wins in a year on Saturday night when Coronado Rose won the $50,000 at Delta Downs in Vinton, La., by a neck, giving Asmussen his 497th win in 2004.

Asmussen watched the race from Sam Houston Race Park.

Asmussen ties Van Berg win record

Steve Asmussen tied Jack Van Berg's 24-year-old record for wins in a year by a trainer, notching his 496th victory of the season Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park with Expect Will ($5.60) in the third race, the $50,000 Groovy Stakes. He had starters in the remaining eight races on the card, and also had two horses in at Delta Downs in Vinton, La.

With the entries, he was poised to whistle past Van Berg and into the record books with almost six weeks left in the year.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Hollywood Park will offer a minimum guaranteed pick four pool of $400,000 on Sunday, an increase of $200,000 from the guaranteed pick four pool on the first two Sundays of the current fall meeting.

Hollywood Park has offered a guaranteed pick four pool of $400,000 on Saturdays at this meeting and $200,000 on other days. So far, the minimum pool has been reached each day. The bet is held on the final four races of the program.

Declan's Moon victorious in Prevue

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Declan's Moon ran a perfect race in Saturday's $100,000 , remaining unbeaten in three starts and firmly in the picture for the Eclipse Award as the nation's outstanding 2-year-old male.

Scoring his second consecutive stakes win, Declan's Moon ($2.80) stalked pacesetter Bushwacker through a half-mile in 21.96 and 44.22 seconds, rallied to take the lead in early stretch and won by a measured two lengths. Jockey Victor Espinoza did not use his whip on Declan's Moon, who finished seven furlongs in 1:21.74.
