OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Thus far, Rockport Harbor and Galloping Grocer have had things their way. Both have won their first three starts by open lengths. Saturday, the two talented juveniles will get their first major test when they face each other in the Grade 2, $200,000 Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct.

A field of six was entered for the Remsen, run around two turns at 1 1/8 miles.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - The defections this week of Tempted winner Summer Raven and the intriguing My Typhoon essentially have turned Saturday's Grade 2, $200,000 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct into a two-horse race between Sis City and Salute.

Read the Footnotes is back

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - One year ago this weekend, Read the Footnotes established himself as a serious Kentucky Derby candidate with a strong victory in the Remsen Stakes. Saturday, Read the Footnotes will try to lay the groundwork for becoming a serious player in next year's handicap division.

Away from the races since chipping a knee in the Kentucky Derby, Read the Footnotes is entered to run in a $58,000 allowance race at 6 1/2 furlongs at Aqueduct. Trainer Rick Violette is hoping to use this race as a prep for the Grade 1 Malibu at Santa Anita on Dec. 26.

For the past couple of years, Values of the Hunt has shown ability but has never won a stakes. That may be about to change as the 4-year-old Values of the Hunt runs in Saturday's $132,250 Johnie L. Jamison Handicap at Sunland Park. The 6 1/2-furlong race for New Mexico-breds drew a field of 10.

Turf Paradise: Muir Beach peaking

Muir Beach has won routing and sprinting, on turf and on dirt. Horses don't come much more professional than Muir Beach, who is in peak form for the $50,000 Queen of the Green Handicap at Turf Paradise on Saturday. The mile turf race has a field of eight.

, 3, was a maiden coming into 2004. But she has won four of her last six starts, and comes in Saturday off a smart win at 3-5 in the 7 1/2-furlong Chandler Handicap at Turf Paradise Nov. 19.

Since she won that race going away, and since she has won before at a mile, the distance Saturday is obviously within her reach.

McKnight handy with breeds apart

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Norm McKnight has come full circle.

McKnight, once a prominent Standardbred trainer-driver, switched breeds in 1995, moving into the world of Thoroughbred racing.

In 1999 McKnight went out on his own and has forged a successful training career through the past six seasons, winning 122 races with stakes winners Dawson's Legacy, Brite Adam, and Slightlymorelikely among his success stories.

And while he's certainly not about to sever his connection with the Thoroughbreds, McKnight, 48, has begun moonlighting as a harness driver.

Sea Dub returns to his best distance

Sea Dub will cut back to the distance of his last two wins Saturday night in the $40,000 Buffalo Bayou Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park.

The 1 1/16-mile turf race drew a field of nine, including multiple stakes winner Crowned King and Late Expectations, who won the $50,000 Richard King Handicap last weekend at Sam Houston.
