Delaware: Dance Away Capote wins easily

Dance Away Capote displayed no aftereffects of the illness that kept her out of the Kentucky Oaks when she cruised to a 5 1/2-length victory against five outmatched rivals in the $100,000 at Delaware Park.

Racing over a "good" track that had been sealed, Dance Away Capote ($2.80) sat patiently in fourth until jockey Ramon Dominguez asked her to move closer on the backstretch. She responded with a rush to take the lead from Last Toots leaving the far turn and was hand-ridden to the wire.

Gotta Rush, a 14-1 shot, overtook Last Toots in deep stretch for second.

Philadelphia: Gadace's Khamseh wires

Gadace's Khamseh, left as the lone speed following five scratches, capitalized on his advantage to register his first stakes victory in the $100,000 at Philadelphia Park.

Ridden by Victor Molina for trainer Phil Aristone, the 4-year-old Gadace's Khamseh ($5.60) opened up a quick three-length lead in the seven-furlong race, and despite drifting a bit wide entering the stretch was able to hold off a mild bid by Say Mi Name to win by three-quarters of a length. Polish Pride, the 6-5 favorite, finished third.

The final time was 1:21.27.

Pimlico: Tacirring finds room

Jockey Eric Camacho guided Tacirring along a hole that opened up on the rail in the stretch and the 6-year-old gelding responded by drawing off to a 2 1/4-length win in the $50,000 Ben Cohen Stakes at Pimlico.

Trained by Scott Lake, Tacirring had only one horse beaten after the first three furlongs but finished fastest of all. He covered the five furlongs on firm turf in 57.99 seconds.

Midwatch, a 13-1 shot, finished second, 3 1/4 lengths ahead of 2-1 second choice Yankee Wildcat.

Thistledown: Just Michel withstands trouble

Just Michel and rider Scott Spieth won a roughly run Brent's Princess Stakes at Thistledown, rallying to defeat Southbound Katie by a half-length. Imahoneytoo, who also had a rough trip, finished third, another 1 1/4 lengths back in the field of nine Ohio-bred fillies and mares.

Just Michel was forced in leaving the chute, dropped inside to be within striking distance, angled four wide for racing room entering the stretch, and rallied once clear to win her third consecutive stakes.

Lord of the Game holds on to win the $100,000 Hanshin Cup Handicap at Arlington Park on Saturday.

Lord of the Game got past a stubborn Nkosi Reigns, then held off a surging Gouldings Green to post a hard-earned victory Saturday in the $100,000 at Arlington Park.

The victory in the Grade 3 Hanshin was the sixth in seven career starts for Lord of the Game, a 4-year-old colt trained by Tom Tomillo. He returned $7.40 as second choice in a field of eight older horses.

American Freedom takes Red Bank

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Trainer Jamie Woodington got her wish when the Grade 3, $150,000 remained on the turf Saturday afternoon at Monmouth Park.She wanted to keep American Freedom, a 7-year-old New Jersey-bred gelding, on his preferred surface at his favorite track.The race stayed on the grass, and American Freedom ($25.80) pulled off the upset in the first turf race of the meet run over a very soft course.

Singletary eyes two in row. What are the chances?

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - His reasoning sounds more like zany superstition than handicapping, but trainer Don Chatlos said he is worried that Singletary's chances of winning Monday's Grade 1 Shoemaker Breeders' Cup Mile at Hollywood Park ended when he won the Grade 2 Arcadia Handicap at Santa Anita last month.

"It's bad for us because he's never won two races in a row," Chatlos said.
