Travelator best, if she runs

The Stanley Hough-trained Travelator, who comes off a sharp score in the Candy Eclair Stakes at Monmouth Park, is the horse to beat in Saturday's $100,000 My Juliet Stakes at Philadelphia Park. That is, if she shows up.

Hough also entered in in the West Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth, and was not going to decide until Friday at the earliest as to where she will start.

A winner of 10 of 26 career starts, Travelator is the 2-1 favorite on the morning line in the six-furlong My Juliet. She'll be ridden by Harry Vega, the leading rider at Philadelphia Park.

Take Achance on Me back vs. statebreds

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Take Achance on Me is an excellent sprinter by Illinois-bred standards. The problem is he has spent very little time in Illinois.

Funny, because Take Achance on Me has been about everywhere. A 7-year-old owned by W.D. Everett and trained by Mike Trombetta, Take Achance on Me has started at 19 different tracks during a 43-race career. He has always been based in Maryland, however, and has ventured to Illinois only twice, finishing second in the 2003 White Oak Handicap and winning the Chicagoland Handicap two months ago at Hawthorne.
