Revved Up wins Niagara Breeders' Cup Handicap

Revved Up wins the Grade 2, $335,800 Niagara Breeders' Cup Handicap at Woodbine on Monday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - New York invader Revved Up ($7.30) held off Strut the Stage and favored A Bit O'Gold in the stretch to take the Grade 2, $335,800 at Woodbine Monday.

With Brice Blanc aboard, Revved Up raced well off a sizzling pace in the mile and a half turf event. Provincetown and Burst of Fire dueled through fractions of :22.88, :46.19 and 1:10.42, before they both began to fade on the far turn, where all the protagonists joined the fray.

Monmouth: Briviesca gets up on inside

Briviesca, and jockey Chris DeCarlo, win the $55,000 Goldfinch Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Briviesca found room on the hedge to slip through for a neck victory in the $56,815 Goldfinch Stakes for fillies and mares at Monmouth Park.

Trained by Bill Mott, the 4-year-old Briviesca ($9.20) scored her first win of the season in seven tries. She had competed in five straight graded stakes before dropping into the 1 1/8-mile Goldfinch.

* Coastal Strike ($6.60) took charge turning for home to post a 1 1/4-length win in the $55,000 Thomas J. Malley for 3-year-old fillies.

Prairie Meadows: Good trip does trick

Thekatcamehome wins the $48,000 Prairie Meadows Debutante on Saturday.

Thekatcamehome ($9.40) took advantage of a rail-skimming trip under meet leading-rider Glenn Corbett to score a 2 1/2-length victory over 4-5 favorite Bountempo in the $48,000 Prairie Meadows Debutante for 2-year-old fillies.

Thekatcamehome ran in fourth while saving ground on the turn, then came through inside rivals to challenge in midstretch. Thekat-camehome was timed in 1:11.64 for the six furlongs.

The win was Thekatcamehome's third in five starts, all for trainer Dick Clark.

Three Valleys wins Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap

Three Valleys captures the Grade 2, $350,000 Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap on Sunday.

DEL MAR, Calif. - Humberto Ascanio got his parlay home. The long-time assistant to trainer Bobby Frankel prepared Intercontinental for her victory in the Palomar Handicap on Saturday, and then 24 hours later sent out Three Valleys to capture the Grade 2, $350,000 in a course-record performance before 23,618 fans.

Like Intercontinental, Three Valleys is owned and was bred by Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms. Both were favored, and both needed head's-up rides to prevail.

Bay Meadows: Thirsty Guy's wins Earlene McCabe Derby

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Thirsty Guy's ($12) sat behind quick early splits and finished strongly to win the $70,400 Earlene McCabe Derby at Bay Meadows on Sunday.

While Wind Water and Left 'Em Burning battled through 21.61 and 44.00 fractions, Thirsty Guy's was five lengths behind them in third. He moved up as the field turned from home and was second at the eighth pole as Left 'Em Burning began to fade.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Canadian invader Jambalaya won a thrilling edition of the Grade 3 on Sunday, edging out 8-5 favorite Silver Whistle by a nostril on the wire.

Jambalaya, ridden by Woodbine-based rider Jono Jones, took an extremely narrow lead at the eighth pole over Silver Whistle, with jockey Jerry Bailey, who had rallied four-wide to reach the front. With Jambalaya veering out slightly in the stretch, those two horses were locked in battle to the finish with neither one gaining greater than a nose edge.

Mobil captures the Halton Stakes for the third year in a row over Lenny the Lender Sunday at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Mobil captured the Halton Stakes in front-running style for the third year in a row over Lenny the Lender Sunday at Woodbine, while One for Rose took the Algoma Stakes for the third straight time on the same card.

The Halton and Algoma were two of six stakes on the 11-race card restricted to graduates of local yearling sales.

Patrick Husbands guided Mobil through slow fractions in the $125,000 Halton. They held Lenny the Lender at bay through the stretch, and won the nine-furlong turf event by a length, in a final time of 1:49.06 seconds.

Misty Glow wins Matron Handicap

Longshot Misty Glow outfinished Phone Affair following a long stretch drive to account for Saturday night's Matron Handicap at Evangeline. Only a nose separated the top finishers at the wire while it was another two and three quarter lengths back to Leestown Lib in third. Starting highweight Good Humor Gal was fourth followed by 6-5 favorite Keep this Cat who faded after racing prominently early in the one-mile test for fillies and mares.
