FDD Dynasty wins Ed Burke Memorial Futurity

FDD Dynasty remained unbeaten after three starts with a convincing win in Saturday's $1,142,000 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity for Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos.

The win gave jockey G.R. Carter, Jr., a sweep of the two major races of the weekend. Carter won Friday's $137,700 Vessels Maturity aboard Be A Bono, the 2004 world champion.

FDD Dynasty ($13.40) finished three-quarters of a length in front of 7-5 favorite Blues Girl Too. He broke from the rail and led throughout, finishing 350 yards in 17.29 seconds. No Secrets Here finished third.

Stockton: Candy Jo just gets there

Candy Jo ($3.20), ridden by apprentice Luis Martinez, finished strongly to nip Snowdrop by a nose to win the $54,600 Sweepida Stakes at the San Joaquin County Fair. Devons Smokin was third, another three lengths behind.

Candy Jo finished the 5 1/2-furlong race in 1:03.88. The victory lifted Candy Jo's earnings to $90,728 with 2 wins, 2 seconds, and a third in 7 starts.

Pick six carryover reaches $157,627

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - A string of wins by mid-priced longshots on Saturday has led to a pick six carryover of $157,627 for Sunday's program at Hollywood Park.

The pick six covers the fourth through ninth races. The races include a maiden claimer for California-bred sprinters, an optional claimer at 5 1-2 furlongs on turf for 3-year-old fillies, a maiden claimer for sprinters, the $150,000 Cinema Breeders' Cup Handicap for 3-year-olds on turf, a $40,000 claimer at 1 1-16 miles on the main track, a maiden race at 5 1-2 furlongs for 2-year-old fillies.

Memorette takes Beverly Hills

Memorette, Victor Espinoza up, wins her first graded stakes in Saturday's $150,000 Beverly Hills Handicap at Hollywood Park.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Memorette won her first graded stakes in Saturday's $150,000 . It was the 11th appearance in a graded stakes for the 4-year-old filly, who rallied behind a quick pace to pull an upset.

Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Memorette ($18.40) ran 1 1-4 miles on turf in 2:00.16, running down Live Life in deep stretch. Moscow Burning finished third in the field of nine fillies and mares.

Showing Up cuts it on grass, winning $1 million Turf Cup

Flower Alley succeeds in 2006 debut

Flower Alley wins the Salvator Mile on Saturday at Monmouth Park.

Flower Alley won his season debut, kicking clear in the final sixteenth to win the Grade 3, $159,000 Saturday in the slop at Monmouth Park.

Flower Alley ($3) won by 3 1/4 lengths in his first start since finishing second to Horse of the Year Saint Liam in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Flower Alley was timed in 1:35.87. The card was delayed by a heavy thunderstorm that rolled in about an hour before the Salvator. The track, which had been listed as fast, was immediately downgraded to sloppy.

Noble Stella edges Angara

ELMONT, N.Y. - Noble Stella held off a late charge from Angara to score a neck win in the Grade 2, $250,000 for fillies and mares Saturday at Belmont Park.

Noble Stella ($11.20) ran the 1 1/4 miles in 2:08.26 on the inner turf course, which was softened by several heavy showers during the afternoon. A 5-year-old mare trained by Roger Attfield, Noble Stella earned her seventh win in 24 career starts.

Potra Clasica wins Liberada by DQ

MIAMI - Baena put blinkers on and ran the race of her life in Saturday's $45,000 Liberada Stakes. Unfortunately it wasn't good enough after the stewards disqualified Baena from first and placed her second for interfering with 7-5 favorite Potra Clasica in deep stretch of the 1 1/16-mile overnight stakes for older fillies and mares.

Whatsitgonnatake vs. older foes

Whatsitgonnatake, a 3-year-old, takes on older rivals, including defending champion My Sweet Sug, in Tuesday's $40,000 Florence Henderson Stakes at Indiana Downs. A 1 1/16-mile turf race, the Henderson has a field of 13 Indiana-bred fillies and mares, including an also-eligible.

Trained by Rebecca Maker, Whatsitgonnatake captured the $40,000 First Lady at 7 1/2 furlongs on turf here May 29. She returned to finish third, beaten 2 3/4 lengths, going a mile over a yielding turf course at Arlington Park on June 11.
