Colonial Downs: Run the Light rallies

On paper, it looked as if Navesink was the lone speed in the $60,000 Daniel Van Clief Stakes at Colonial Downs, which looked to present a problem for the late-running Run the Light. Navesink did indeed cruise to the front in the 1 1/16-mile turf race, but in the end it didn't matter. Run the Light and jockey Luis Garcia ran down Navesink in the final furlong and drew off to a five-length score in the stakes for Virginia-breds.

Navesink, a slight favorite over Run the Light, held on for second over a late-charging Love Conquers, who finished third in the eight-horse field.
