All Smiles relishes slop

Trainer Fran Campitelli only intended to run All Smiles if the $50,000 Dahlia Stakes was taken off the turf. He was also hoping for something other than fast dirt, since All Smiles was 2 for 2 on wet surfaces.

Campitelli got his wish when rain washed out grass racing and turned Laurel Park's main track sloppy. All Smiles ($8.60) responded by scoring her second stakes win of the meet, rallying to take the Dahlia by a length over First Ascent. It was another 2 1/2 lengths back to British Event.
