LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Rachel Alexandra came out of her record-breaking Kentucky Oaks victory on Friday in fine fashion and will remain at Churchill Downs while being pointed to the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes on the June 6 Belmont Stakes undercard, trainer Hal Wiggins said Saturday morning.
"She had about a handful of feed left in her tub this morning, and I promise you when we took her out of her stall, she had a lip shank on her and just dragged us around the barn," Wiggins said.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. - When they took a medium-sized swing at a big pick-six pool April 25 on California Gold Rush Day at Hollywood Park, Gary Young and his gambling associate had no preconceived notions.
"One thing you have to remember about the pick six is there are going to be a lot more near-misses than there are hits," Young said. "If you don't watch it, it will cost you your sanity."
Young would know. A clocker, bloodstock adviser, and horseplayer, he has been playing the pick six in California for 25 years and said the bet "defined my gambling career."
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Big Drama will make his next start in either the Grade 3, $400,000 Lone Star Derby or the Preakness, with a course of action to be decided after he works at his Calder base on Monday, trainer David Fawkes said.
The Lone Star Derby, at 1 1/16 miles, will be run May 9, while the Grade 1, $1 million Preakness is at Pimlico on May 16.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - I Want Noise, the 2-year-old half-brother to Kentucky Derby morning-line favorite I Want Revenge, is scheduled to arrive at trainer Jeff Mullins's stable at Hollywood Park next month.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Trainer Craig MacPherson wasn't surprised heavily favored Against the Sky had her six-race win streak snapped when she finished third in a six-furlong $75,000 optional claiming race on April 19. After all, Against the Sky, who was the champion older female in British Columbia in 2008, had not won a sprint since 2005 when she won her debut in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race. Since then, she has won 10 races at 1 1/16 miles or longer. In fact, she has never lost a race longer than 6 1/2 furlongs.
