Tests find Indian Blessing healthy

Barbara D. Livingston
Indian Blessing ran fourth in Sunday's Desert Stormer, the first time in her 14 races she was not first or second.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Indian Blessing, the champion female sprinter of 2008, was given a clean bill of health after undergoing a battery of tests earlier this week, trainer Bob Baffert said Wednesday.

The tests were prompted by her fourth-place finish in the minor Desert Stormer Handicap at Hollywood Park this past Sunday, the first time that Indian Blessing had finished worse than second in her 14-race career.

Even though the tests revealed no injuries or illnesses, Baffert said that Indian Blessing will continue to be monitored closely.

Notis Her (2) gets past Ookster to win the CTHS Sales Stakes for fillies.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - In both stakes races contested at Hastings last weekend, the best horse - and they were both favored - didn't win. A poor start and a wide trip cost Tommy Danzigger the colts and geldings division of the $55,434 CTHS Sales Stakes for 3-year-olds on Sunday.

Ookster should have won the fillies division on Saturday, and she gained a lot of respect for her very game second-place finish.

Seemingly about to fade on the final turn after holding a commanding early lead, Presious Passion battled back to pull out a nose victory.

"He looked beat," Hartmann said. "He came out of it in good shape, ate up."
