Benoit & Associates
Aaron Gryder, winning the Barretts Debutante at Fairplex with Judge Joan, will ride in Hong Kong from Nov. 22 until at least March.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Aaron Gryder, who won the $6 million Dubai World Cup in March but has struggled in recent months to find mounts in Southern California, is relocating to Hong Kong this weekend, he said on Wednesday.

Gryder said he will stay in Hong Kong at least through March, the term of his visa, and may stay until the end of the race season next July.

Gryder, 39, said his win on Well Armed in Dubai, combined with riding briefly in Hong Kong in June, has led to further interest in riding overseas.

Presious Passion eyes overseas trip

Barbara D. Livingston
Presious Passion set the pace in the BC Turf, but couldn't hold off Conduit.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Presious Passion, Piscitelli, and Bickersons, the three New Jersey-based horses in last weekend's Breeders' Cup, all came through the experience unscathed.

While they didn't bring back a championship to the Garden State, Presious Passion and Piscitelli turned in terrific efforts.

True to form, Presious Passion opened a huge lead in the Turf. It took a determined effort from defending champion Conduit to edge by in the final stages as Presious Passion held on gamely for second.

Shirreffs, 64, who also won the Ladies' Classic with Life Is Sweet, has roots in Northern California from his days of training for Henry Freitas of Loma Rica Ranch in the late 70s. Shirreffs's first stakes victory came with Jade Ring in the John Peri Stakes at Stockton in 1980.
